In our “Meet the Team” series, we highlight the talented individuals who drive Phastar’s success. Each team member brings unique skills, experience, and passion to their role, working together to deliver high-quality biometrics and data science solutions in clinical research. Below, we share their career journey, insights, and the impact they make every day.

Can you tell us a bit about your background and what led you to join Phastar?

After studying a Maths BSc and then a Medical Statistics MSc, I joined Phastar as a graduate almost six years ago. My first impressions of Phastar were really positive from the interview process through to the in-depth graduate training. At each stage, the friendliness, team-focused attitude and passion for the industry really shined through.

What is your role at Phastar, and what do you enjoy most about your day-to-day responsibilities?

I am currently a Senior Statistician, working as a Lead Statistician on multiple large Phase III Oncology trials. Since Phastar is a specialist biometrics and data science CRO, the statisticians have the opportunity to be really hands on with the programming aspects of our studies. I really enjoy the technical challenges, as well as the variety that this provides to my day-to-day work.

What has been your favorite moment or achievement at Phastar so far?

The first study I ever worked on at Phastar, and then have since become the Lead Statistician, has seen positive results, and the drug has been approved for use across many regions globally. Oncology trials can be extremely long, and sometimes it’s difficult to keep the end goal in sight. But it’s amazing to see the treatment being rolled out to benefit patients across the world and really rewarding and motivating to be a small part of that.

What opportunities for growth or professional development have you had since joining the team?

At Phastar, there is a good balance between a focus on project work and input into internal initiatives which allows for personal development in a multitude of ways. Since joining as a graduate, I’ve had many opportunities for progression and to gain recognition for development. I have continually progressed in multiple areas through attending various statistics conferences, acquiring line management opportunities, and being part of a technical working group within the department.

What do you value most about working at Phastar?

At Phastar, there is an incredibly supportive, helpful and sociable culture which helps to develop each member of the team as well as building personal relationships in the workplace. I value my colleagues immensely and know that we are one team with a common goal.
