In our “Meet the Team” series, we highlight the talented individuals who drive Phastar’s success. Each team member brings unique skills, experience, and passion to their role, working together to deliver high-quality biometrics and data science solutions in clinical research. Below, we share their career journey, insights, and the impact they make every day.

Can you tell us a bit about your background and what led you to join Phastar?

I studied Statistics at Glasgow University and joined the CRO industry in 2015. Before joining Phastar I was a programmer working on mostly oncology studies and then I began leading. I was looking for a role that would allow me to continue to develop my technical skills and also offer a clear development path, both which were available at Phastar.

What is your role at Phastar, and what do you enjoy most about your day-to-day responsibilities?

My current role is Associate Director within the Programming function with a focus on FSP. I oversee multiple client accounts and help look after those people we have working with the client teams and manage the financial health of those FSP projects. I’m heavily involved in line management and recruitment activities for the programming department and helping to bring in new interview techniques to allow us to get the best from our recruitment process.

What has been your favorite moment or achievement at Phastar so far?

Being able to help support the use of new software to aid interviewing for programming positions. This has an impact across both PBS and FSP and ensures we can keep the quality of new starters high across the department.

What opportunities for growth or professional development have you had since joining the team?

I’ve been fortunate enough to have experience in a few different roles within Phastar. I led studies for a large Pharmaceutical company through our PBS team, worked within an SDTM automation group and then moved to FSP where I was able to take on a management role and oversight of client accounts. Through this role I’ve been able to really develop my management skills and also my customer facing skills – including commercial activities to win new business and also insight into the financial side of the company.

What do you value most about working at Phastar?

I’ve always had the opportunities needed to develop myself professionally, whether that be focusing on technical skills or furthering my management experience. At each step of the way I’ve had excellent line managers and head of function who had been able to provide encouragement and support as I learn new skills and move into unknown areas.
